Down to the wire: Open Enrollment ends at 5 p.m. May 9
University of Colorado benefits-eligible faculty and staff are reaching the end of the season for Open Enrollment. The opportunity to make final benefits selections for the 2025-26 plan year is 5 p.m. MT Friday, May 9, when enrollments must be submitted in the employee portal. The new plan year begins July 1.
Do you need a new game plan?
Most faculty and staff will be automatically re-enrolled in their current plans.
There are two exceptions:
- CU Health Plan — Extended is being discontinued. Employees currently enrolled in the Extended plan must choose a replacement medical plan from CU’s four plan options this Open Enrollment or they will lose medical coverage for the 2025-26 plan year.
- Those enrolled in a Health Care Flexible Spending Account and/or a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account must re-enroll for plan year 2025-26.
Consider your whole benefits roster
Even if you are happy with your current benefits package, Open Enrollment is a great time to assess your needs and priorities. Consider updating your beneficiaries, enrolling in or adjusting voluntary retirement contributions, enrolling in a Health Savings Account or making changes to your life insurance policies. Even though you can do these things at any time, Open Enrollment is a great time to steer yourself toward financial security.

Enroll in digital delivery
With Open Enrollment tasks complete, consider opting for digital delivery of plan ID cards and legally required notices:
- Digital plan ID cards: CU Health Plan members can access medical, dental and pharmacy plan ID cards online or through provider apps.
