The PSC was just informed this week by United Airlines of their intent to discontinue the baggage fee waiver program for CU travelers that had been in place since March of 2021. Effective March 24, 2023, all CU travelers flying United will be expected to pay for their checked bags. 

This change will be effective regardless of when the ticket was purchased.

We are disappointed by United's decision and are in talks with their senior leadership to revisit this decision. The PSC will provide updates to the campuses as more unfolds.

As a reminder, Southwest Airlines always allows two free checked bags to travelers, so be sure to evaluate the additional costs associated with your flight options when making your next travel reservation.
