CU Innovation & Efficiency Tips, Part 1: Help your department create a supportive environment!

We've started a new performance year! Ask yourself ...

  • Do you want to create an employee-supportive environment for your department?
  • Do you wish there were fun and cost-effective ways of recognizing individual work efforts?

If you face these common challenges, your CU colleagues may have exactly the answers you’re looking for!

Here's a great idea from this year's CU Innovation & Efficiency (CU I&E) Awards Program.

Your colleagues have told us how they’ve enhanced employee recognition in their departments:

  • At UCCS, they created a peer recognition program in an office with heavy workloads and potentially high stress, so that any employee "can put in a note about another employee or a supervisor telling everyone something they have done that was awesome." Each week, a nominated employee is recognized and receives a hand-painted rock and a personal thank-you note from the supervisor. Employees who frequently go above and beyond are eligible to receive lunch and a gift card, courtesy of the supervisor. The employees appreciate the recognition and the program is fun and cost-effective. See You ROCK!!!! Peer Recognition Program

See what other departments have done to support their teams.

In fact: check out all the CU I&E Awards Program submissions this year on the Office of University Controller website.

And mark your calendar to join us at the CU I&E Expo on May 15

Come to the CU I&E Exposition & Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 (11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.), at the System offices (1800 Grant St., Denver).

Watch this year's CU I&E semifinalists demo their submissions and ask them questions about their innovations.  Hear the announcement of prize winners. Enjoy light refreshments and great conversation with your CU colleagues. All employees are invited to attend.
