We’re happy to announce some recent and excellent developments in 17 of the Cognos management-financial (m-Fin) reports.
The OUC sends out its thanks to the campus controllers’ offices and to all the organizational units who contributed to a successful year-end close for FY 2013.  Now we’ve moved on to the next phase. Our external auditors, CliftonLarsonAllen, are currently onsite for final fieldwork and will issue their report to the State Auditor’s Office later this fall. The University's Annual Financial Report for FY 2013 will be available on the OUC website in December.
The first quarter of our FY 2014 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Program will include three days of courses in September – both new offerings, and popular repeats. Training dates are Mon, Sept 9; Tues, Sept 17; and, Thur, Sept 26. During the week of August 19, we’ll provide details on the specific courses being offered in September, with their descriptions and instructor information. We'll also open registration for CU employees.  Learn about the CPE Program→
In August, President Bruce Benson and members of the CU System executive staff will join OUC members, campus controllers, and other guests at a reception honoring the 12 accepted CUSP submissions from FY 2013.
Successful professional development is the result of strategic thinking and planning -- a joint effort for the employee and his or her organizational unit. The OUC promotes this effort through our Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Program. Course topics range from accounting to personal skills development to computer expertise. We'll announce the complete FY 2014 CPE schedule later this month but for now, here's a preview:

Quarter 1 (Sep 9, 17 & 26)

The Office of University Controller (OUC) looks forward to fulfilling that promise as we commit to our updated goals and responsibilities for Fiscal Year 2014. Key among these goals are: Administer and enhance CU financial and reporting systems; Establish internal controls to record, report, and safeguard assets; Lead the CU community in understanding and fulfilling their fiscal responsibilities; Expand and enhance communications; and, Impress our customers with outstanding customer service.
Many individuals across the campuses have been receiving email reminders about their 2013 Fiscal Assessment due dates. According to University procedures, the officers to whom these individuals roll up cannot complete their own required Fiscal Certifications until the Assessments are done. If you've received such an email, please follow the instructions to log in to your campus portal and navigate to CU Resources - Business Applications - Fiscal Cert and Assessment.
We're there! The 3rd and FINAL close process for June 2013 is scheduled to run today (Friday, July 19).
How do you pick the best of the best?
We’ve recently updated select financial and procurement guidance and forms; the revised versions were posted on the OUC and PSC websites effective July 1. The changes are largely due to questions and new processing associated with the transition of approximately 150 CU Foundation development employees to the University. The focus of these employees' work is donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Many of the changes to policy, procedure, and form are minor – for example, adding references to the new advancement/development fund (Fund 36) to some of the OUC and PSC forms.
