Cognos Reporting System Initiative: Toward a Single Reporting Solution

As you know the OUC has been charged with developing the Cognos Reporting System as the single reporting solution for the University of Colorado. In pursuit of this goal, we have already begun to decommission other, unsupported reporting tools. If you use various reporting systems, please note the following schedule for transitions:
  • The Denver Wareouse (or cms “Denver CIW” site) was successfully decommissioned during the time period August - December 2011. We worked closely with Denver report users to ensure that their financial data needs were addressed through new and revised m-Fin reports in Cognos. Thanks to all who assisted in this effort – we are pleased to receive such positive feedback on the new reports.
  • The accounting.cudenver.edu site will be decommissioned as of the end of February 2012.
  • The FishNet financial queries will be decommissioned over the months of April - August 2012
  • The PSLite decommission is yet to be determined – we’ll provide an update on the timeline for this tool in the near future.
The OUC’s team for the Cognos Reporting System Initiative is composed of Carl Sorenson and Rosen Georgiev, who work closely with other members of the OUC’s Financial Systems, Accounting Services, and Finance & Procurement Business Services sections – as well as with campus controller and department staff – to pursue this initiative. Through Cognos, we offer on-demand reports to suit common departmental financial management needs. We also provide training, documentation, and support to facilitate knowledgeable use of the Cognos Reporting System and transition away from other systems. We always welcome your input on financial report development. Please contact Carl.Sorenson@cu.edu with questions/comments – or (better yet!) post your thoughts on Carl’s m-Fin blog.
