Q2 Winners of the UIS Professional Commitment Award

UIS Professional Commitment Awards are peer-nominated and are proffered three times per year in December, March and June. The awards are offered to three employees who show exceptional accomplishments in at least one of UIS's Professional Commitments. This quarter we honor Pamela Song, Paula Ramirez and Julie Sharpe.

Pamela Song (Software Engineer – SOA), Julie Sharpe (Project Manager) and Paula Ramirez (Business Operations Manager) are the recipients of this quarter’s Professional Commitment awards. Selected by the UIS Leadership Team, award winners are chosen in recognition and appreciation for the continually demanding work completed by UIS employees; often after hours and on weekends.

Pamela Song was awarded for her exceptional level of assistance to her peers. UIS team members described her as “an awesome team player” and highlighted her willingness to share her knowledge and expertise in technology training and the SalesForce integration project, despite her own full workload.

First-time supervisor Paula Ramirez was praised for her self-awareness and accountability. Her confidence in going direct when there is an issue and encouraging her staff to follow suit was also highlighted.

Julie Sharpe was singled out for her management of one of the largest projects UIS has ever undertaken—the Elevate project. This undertaking is a combined Human Resources and Finance application upgrade in collaboration with Employee Services and Office of University Controller, with thousands of tasks and a level of complexity UIS has not seen before. Her peers described how Julie’s positive outlook was inspiring “despite shouldering a load that would crush many PM’s.” The amount of sacrifice she made for this project was almost “unthinkable”; Julie was even in the office on Super Bowl Sunday!

Recipients of the peer-nominated Professional Commitment award are selected each quarter (December, March and June), with the fourth quarter reserved for the Contribution of the Year award.

Congratulations to Pamela, Paula and Julie!
