Subtotals

We have made some improvements to subtotaling in the following reports in Cognos QA. [Migrated to production 11-AUG-2013.]

Report Simplified subtotal labels SAL, WAGES AND BEN subtotal SUBTOTAL BEFORE F AND A Additional account tree level05 subtotaling
m-Fin OPERATING SUMMARY Added. Added. Already had it. Already had it.
m-Fin TRIAL BALANCE SUMMARY Added. Added. Added. Added.
m-Fin TRIAL BALANCE TOTAL Added. Added. Added. Added.
m-Fin REVENUE AND EXPENDITURE SUMMARY Added. Added. Already had it. Added.
m-Fin REVENUE AND EXPENDITURE TOTAL Added. Added. Added. Already had it.

Simplified subtotal labels

Please let us know if this new way of labeling subtotal lines is OK (post a comment below). When the account number from-to range is shown in a header, then the footer, which is the line that has the subtotal amounts in it, shows only the description part of the label. The from-to range is not repeated.

Account number range not repeated – friendlier to the eye.

SAL, WAGES, AND BEN subtotal

This subtotal tells the compensation including benefits, which sometimes is called total compensation. m-Fin BAE BY MONTH – SUMMARY has had this subtotal for a while, and now these other reports are getting it. It only shows up when it is needed – when there is both pay (SAL AND WAGES) and benefits (BEN).

SUBTOTAL BEFORE F AND A

This subtotal shows the direct cost on projects. It only shows up when it is needed – when there is F AND A (a.k.a. indirect cost recovery).

Additional account tree level05 subtotaling

Previously level05 subtotals would appear only under the level04 SAL AND WAGES range, only when needed. Now we have extended this same logic to the other account tree level04 ranges.

m-Fin REVENUE AND EXPENDITURE TOTAL gets an additional final page

While we had this report on the bench we went ahead and added a second final summary page that combines all the funds.
