Microsoft’s “Stop running this script” Message

In MSIE (Microsoft Internet Explorer), if your HTML output page is large, drills can take a long time to actually start after you have clicked.  Apparently there is a Cognos script doing something to prepare the drill and it runs quite slowly if the page is large.  If more than 30 seconds pass, MSIE asks if you want to stop the script.

It is ok to Click the “No” button and let the script continue.

If this happens to you a lot, try running Firefox instead of MSIE.  It runs this script much faster.

Now that we are aware of this problem, we will set smaller html page sizes in the next versions of some of the m-Fin reports.  This will improve the speed in MSIE somewhat.
