A new approach to multiple non-capital construction projects with a similar timeline is bundling these projects into one large scope under one project number.
Savings are realized primarily in overhead costs by having one CU project manager, one contractor, and one architect/engineer as opposed to separate contracts for every project. Other time and material efficiencies are realized through the construction process.
The Infrastructure Team wanted to streamline the delivery of smaller projects and attract more competitive bidders by creating one large project with a more substantial price tag.
The infrastructure team will continue this project delivery method and will smooth out some internal processes with Facilities Management and Finance.
Holding ONE meeting with ONE contractor and ONE architect/engineer is an incredible relief from having multiple meetings each with a different contractor/architect/engineer. And in the end our clients still get their needs met.
