CU 2020 Policy Kickoff Event

The CU Advocates program within the Office of Government Relations hosted its first event of the year on January 28. The CU 2020 Policy Kickoff event featured a legislative update from Vice President of Government Relations Tanya Kelly-Bowry, a funding formula update from Vice President of Budget and Finance Todd Saliman, and a legislative panel of policy makers. CU President Mark Kennedy moderated the panel, which featured state Senators Nancy Todd (D-Arapahoe) and Paul Lundeen (R- Monument), Denver City Councilwoman Kendra Black, and Colorado Department of Higher Education Chief Operating Officer Inta Morris. Panelists discussed increased access to postsecondary education, higher education affordability, and how CU can help tackle today’s largest policy issues. CU Anschutz Medical Campus Chancellor Don Elliman, CU Boulder Chancellor Phil DiStefano, and CU Denver Chancellor Dorothy Horrell attended along with many other state legislators. Special thanks to Colin Finch, CU Advocates board member, for hosting the event at Four Winds Interactive.
