State Legislators Honored with 2017 Legislator of the Year Award at CU Football Game

On September 9, seven state legislators were honored at Folsom Field as 2017 Legislators of the Year. Senators Jerry Sonnenberg and Lucia Guzman along with Representatives KC Becker and Jon Becker (unable to attend), were honored for their sponsorship of Senate Bill 17-267, the Sustainability of Rural Colorado Act. This bill turns the Hospital Provider Fee into an enterprise, giving the state legislature the flexibility and resources to manage the budget needs of Colorado.

Senator Kevin Priola (R-Adams) and Representatives Edie Hooten (D-Boulder) and Yeulin Willett (R-Grand Junction), were honored for sponsoring Senate Bill 17-41, Higher Education Employment Contract Terms. The bill authorizes the University of Colorado to offer multi-year contracts using auxiliary enterprise monies to employees, including coaches. This important legislation enables CU Athletics to compete on a level playing field with athletic programs across the country.
