Select Committee on the Climate Crisis Holds Field Hearing at CU Boulder

The Select Committee on the Climate Crisis held its first field hearing at the University of Colorado Law School. The bipartisan hearing, titled ”Colorado’s Roadmap for Clean Energy Action: Lessons from State and Local Leaders,” featured two panels. The first panel involved Colorado Governor Jared Polis, and the second panel was comprised of local experts including CU Boulder’s Chief Sustainability Officer Heidi VanGenderen. Committee Chair Congresswoman Kathy Castor (D-FL) and Ranking Member Garrett Graves (R-LA) were joined by fellow committee members Joe Neguse (D-CO), Sean Casten (D-IL), and Colorado Representative Diana DeGette (D-CO), who also participated in the hearing. Prior to the hearing, committee members met with CU Boulder researchers, toured the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES), and attended a welcome reception hosted by University of Colorado President Mark Kennedy and CU Boulder Chancellor Phil DiStefano at CU Boulder.
