Why did you initially apply to work at CU?

I applied for a position in 2010 because I was in search of new opportunities and desired to be closer to my family in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. During that point in my career, I was living in Greeley, Colorado, while working at the University of Northern Colorado.

What makes CU a great place to work?

As a staff member on the downtown campus, I really enjoy working in the heart of the Denver. You have easy access to the arts, a variety of delicious cuisines and all four major sports teams.

What is/are your favorite aspect(s) of working at CU?

I like the entrepreneurial culture. I feel like we are encouraged and supported to be innovators in our respective fields.

What activities are available for staff members to enjoy together outside of academics?

In the past, I have enjoyed participating in the wacky sports competition for staff and faculty during Homecoming. This year, I look forward to our office decorating competition on Halloween.

What do you enjoy most about living in Colorado?

I enjoy the changing colors and smell of the fall season.

What is the best part of your workday?

The majority of my day is spent in the office or in meetings. When I’m able to sneak away for a few minutes, I enjoy meeting new students, staff and faculty. I learn so much by engaging in conversations with the people on campus.

What is your favorite campus/neighborhood location?

The School of Education and Human Development has this neat library on the 7th floor in the Lawrence Street Center. I go there from time to time when I need to collect my thoughts.

What is your favorite area restaurant?

The Euclid Hall on 14th street. I love their chicken and waffles!

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Whenever I have a free moment, I love spending time with my wife and 3-year-old daughter.

We enjoy going to the park, eating out and watching movies.
