CU Denver Names Tammy Ewin as Next Vice Chancellor for Marketing and Communications

The University of Colorado Denver is pleased to announce the appointment of Tammy Ewin as its next Vice Chancellor for Marketing and Communications, following a national search. Ewin will officially begin her role on June 1, 2025.

Ewin brings more than 30 years of experience leading strategic communications and marketing efforts across higher education, public relations, government, healthcare, and nonprofit sectors. She currently serves as Vice President and Chief Communication and Marketing Officer at The University of Akron, where she oversees institutional branding, marketing, executive communications, internal messaging, digital platforms, crisis response, and media strategy.

“Tammy’s expertise in integrated communications, her leadership in complex environments, and her ability to build trust and elevate institutional reputation will be vital as CU Denver advances its mission to make education work for all,” said Chancellor Kenneth T. Christensen. “We are thrilled to welcome her to our campus community and senior leadership team.”

Known for her collaborative style and commitment to inclusive excellence, Ewin has built award-winning teams and campaigns that resonate with today’s diverse learners. Her work has delivered strong results in enrollment marketing, enhanced stakeholder engagement, and strengthened community trust.

Ewin holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communication from the University of Dayton.
