CU Anschutz Police Department Holds Annual Awards Ceremony

The CU Anschutz Police Department held its annual awards banquet on June 7, celebrating the exceptional service, dedication and achievements of its team members. The event opened with remarks from Chief Randy Repola, and Executive Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance and Chief Financial Officer Terri Carrothers, who expressed heartfelt gratitude for the department’s collective efforts.

“I want to express my great appreciation for all that you and your teams do for the campus,” said Carrothers. “Your dedication makes it a safer environment for everyone that comes to the campus and I can’t thank you enough for that.”

The evening continued with the presentation of several distinguished awards, recognizing individuals who exemplify excellence in service, leadership and impact across the campus community.

Customer Service Award

This award may be given to a staff member who consistently goes above and beyond what the customer expects. Customer service must include assistance to a diverse and varied customer needs base. Problem solving and follow-up are a part of the criteria.

Recipient: Dispatcher Cristina Rodriguez-Hernandez

Life-Saving Award

Presented to employees who, through exceptional knowledge and behavior, perform a physical act, which preserves the life of another person until they are turned over to competent medical personnel (as verified by a physician/nurse), and there is no danger to the officer's life.

Recipients: Officers Victor Dominguez Ramirez, Anthony Tran, Jeffrey Langford and Sergeant Oscar Ramos

Leadership Excellence Award

Awarded to employees who have made a significant contribution to the operational effectiveness of the police department through program development and are recognized as a leader within the police department and in the campus community by their demonstrated skills, traits and actions.

Recipient: Communications Supervisor Cody Toft

Meritorious Service Award

May be awarded by the Chief of Police for service rendered in the line of duty when an employee distinguishes him or herself by extraordinary achievement, meritorious achievement, or meritorious service, or because of diligence and perseverance performs difficult tasks under unusual circumstances and goes far beyond that which is normally expected of the employee.

Recipients: Lieutenant Brett Rhoades, Detective Trevor Thonhoff, and Officers Ty Shelton and Anthony Tran

Official Commendation Award

This award is presented to employees, who by exemplary conduct and demeanor, perform his/her assigned functions in an unusually effective manner.

Recipients: Officers Altagracia Boswell, Ty Shelton, Communications Supervisor Cody Toft and Detective Trevor Thonhoff

Campus Impact Award

Award recognizes individuals or teams who have developed, revised and/or implemented a system, tool, process, initiative and/or program within their departments or across the University that had a positive impact. The individual or team has enhanced service delivery, created efficiencies, enhanced productivity, and/or supported sustainability efforts. The initiative had a positive impact within the Department and/or across the University.

Recipient: Director Grey Martinez

Administrative Excellence in Campus Service

This award recognizes outstanding administrative and professional performance that helps the University/Department meet its strategic initiatives and contributes to the attainment of University/Department goals.

Recipient: Sergeant John Filippone Jr.

The CU Anschutz Police Department extends its congratulations to all award recipients and thanks every member of the department for their continued commitment to excellence and service.
