University of Colorado Advocacy Day at the State Capitol

9 a.m.-2 p.m.

What: The University of Colorado hosts its annual Advocacy Day, an event that draws more than 150 advocates of CU’s campuses to the State Capitol. The agenda includes visits to the House and Senate Chamber galleries, remarks by state and university representatives and an educational program covering the state’s economic outlook, higher education funding, the legislative process and tools and tactics to be an advocate for CU.

Who: Presentations from Lt. Gov. Joseph Garcia (CU-Boulder ’79); Natalie Mullis (CU-Boulder ’94, ’98), chief economist, Colorado Legislative Council Staff; CU President Bruce D. Benson, members of the CU Board of Regents, CU students and other CU leaders. Attendees: State lawmakers, members of the CU Advocates program, alumni, donors, students, parents, faculty and staff.

Why: CU is growing a network of supporters who are educated about the challenges and opportunities facing the university and the state. Advocacy Day spotlights the university’s priorities and energizes the CU community to get more involved in spreading the word about CU’s value and contributions to the state and beyond.
