CU Anschutz researchers test drones as a new way to deliver blood products in emergencies
CU Anschutz researchers are studying whether drones can deliver freeze-dried plasma to critically injured patients when getting to a hospital quickly isn’t possible. In an initial study, patients showed improved shock index after receiving plasma, and all 26 survived to 24 hours. Researchers are continuing the study to better understand its potential for battlefield, disaster and remote medical care.
