Director's Corner

Dear Readers,

In the fall of 2021, I was honored to be appointed the new Executive Director for the Coleman Institute for Cognitive Disabilities. I believe in the importance of our mission and look forward to leading the Coleman Institute into a new era of technological advances to promote the quality of life of people with cognitive disabilities and their caregivers.

I would like to take a moment to recognize the efforts of Shea Tanis and Clayton Lewis, who served as Co-Directors of the Coleman Institute from 2019-2021. They were instrumental in leading the institute through the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you, Shea and Clayton!

With the pandemic winding down, we are celebrating our return to full operations with exciting new funding designated for CU researchers and developers. The purpose of the Technology Translational Research & Development (TTRD) Awards is to catalyze unique and vibrant campus researchers and developers interested in technologies designed to support those living with cognitive impairments. The research funding is aimed at advancing ideas from concept to deliverables to create viable and marketable products or services benefiting people with cognitive disabilities. For a complete description of the TTRD Awards and the winners, please keep reading. Join us on this journey of advancement and empathy as we champion the cause of cognitive disabilities and caregiving through technology.

The Coleman Institute is engaged in future planning now, and we look forward to sharing our plans and accomplishments with you. If you are not already subscribed to our newsletter, please join our mailing list.

Best wishes,

Cathy
