On April 25, the children of OUC staff members teamed up with other CU System kids to take part in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. The Grant Street offices have collaborated in this event for the past several years – and the national event just celebrated its 20th anniversary. The day began with a continental breakfast and a visit from the Financial Super Heroes. Subsequent events continued the theme of “Money Matters” and were designed to be both fun and educational for participants in all grade levels.
Kudos to OUC staff members Heather Hoyer and Lisa Vallad, both of whom will achieve CPLP designation effective May 1. Developed by the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), the CPLP certification denotes a Certified Professional in Learning and Performance. The designation is achieved after considerable study, passing of a comprehensive test, and submission of a real-world work product.

Welcome, Sarju Khadka! Sarju joined the OUC in early June, bringing an extensive background in Cognos report-writing to our University-wide m-Fin project. She will work closely with our Associate Director for Reporting Systems, Carl Sorenson. A certified Cognos developer, Sarju is also completing her CPA.  She and her husband are relocating to Colorado from Minnesota, where she worked for US Bank. We are delighted she's now here at CU!
At 1800 Grant Street, this year’s Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day embraced the theme “Let’s Move.” Picking up on the Be Colorado initiative, the April event offered mental and physical activities for children of OUC and other System Administration office staff. Heather Hoyer, OUC’s Procurement Training Specialist and Forms Developer, assisted the System planning committee in designing learning opportunities and an obstacle course for children aged 6-16 years.
On Fri, April 26, the OUC hosted its first annual CPE Instructor Appreciation Event. This year’s celebration honors the 19 current instructors in the CU CPE for CPAs (Continuing Professional Education for Certified Public Accountants) Program. Lisa Suzanne Vallad, CPE Program Manager, reviewed CPE statistics, program success to date, and plans for FY2014. She commended the instructors for their continued high evaluations and noted that framed certificates of appreciation would be sent to them shortly.
