Day care closed? Update Dependent Care FSA contributions to save money

With day cares closed in response to COVID-19 stay-at-home orders, you can make adjustments to your Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (DCFSA) contributions.

You can enroll, cancel or change your DCFSA contributions based on:

  • cancellation or restart of care
  • an increase or decrease in cost
  • an increase or decrease in hours
  • a change of provider
  • if your child reaches age 13

When day care centers reopen and your child care needs change, you can restart or adjust your contributions.

Updates submitted to Employee Services by 10th of each month will be put in place for that month's paycheck.

Review this guide for full details on making changes. Visit our Life Changes website for details on other qualifying life events that allow you to change your benefits outside of Open Enrollment.

If you have questions about DCFSA changes, contact an Employee Services benefits professional at benefits@cu.edu or 303-860-4200, option 3.
