The University of Colorado Office of the President

University of Colorado President Bruce D. Benson is the CEO and chief academic officer of the University of Colorado. In March 2018 he celebrated his 10th anniversary as university president, becoming the longest serving president in the past 65 years. Benson oversees a system of four campuses that serve 60,000 students (67,000 total taking courses for credit) with 32,000 employees and an annual budget of $4.11 billion. CU is one of the top universities in the world.

Benson manages an executive staff in areas of academic affairs, budget and finance, employee services, legal counsel, communications, fundraising and government relations. He also works closely with chancellors, the primary administrative officers of each campus. Benson was appointed by the university’s governing Board of Regents, with which he works closely on broad policy and fiduciary issues.
