University of Colorado Faculty Senate

The Faculty Senate is defined in Regent Law Article 5.A.2: Faculty Government [1]. The faculty shall form a Faculty Senate for the purpose of faculty participation in shared governance and other activities deemed important by the faculty. Meetings are semi-annual, generally the 4th Thursday in October and April. 

University of Colorado Faculty Council 

The Faculty Council is the executive body of the Faculty Senate and as such initiates advice and recommendations to the president or other appropriate administrative officials for submission to the Board of Regents on matters within the jurisdiction of the Council which are related to educational policy, internal operations and external operation of the university. Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of the month (unless otherwise noted) during the academic year.

On April 25th, 2024, Faculty Senate approved the following resolution regarding the UCCS Chancellor search: 

• Resolution in Support of Complying with Regent Policy 3 and the Open Meetings Law  [2]

Faculty Council members approved the following resolution at the October 28, 2021 meeting: ​

• Resolution Academic Freedom to Teach on Issues of Race, Ethnicity, Gender, Religion, and Political Philosophy (10/28/2021) [3]

Faculty Council would like to remind Faculty Assemblies, schools & colleges to review and approve changes to APS 1025 Uniform Grading Policy [4]. No change in the Uniform Grading Policy shall be adopted unless it meets with the approval of the voting faculty within 60% of the schools and colleges.
