CU's enterprise data reporting tool

CU-Data, powered by IBM Cognos, is the University of Colorado’s enterprise-level business intelligence (BI) reporting tool. It allows Cognos report developers to create reports and provides users with standardized, reliable information to support data analysis and informed decision-making, drawing primarily from the Central Information Warehouse (CIW).

University Information Services (UIS) hosts CU-Data on an enterprise-grade server platform, enabling secure and efficient data sharing across CU campuses. Please note: A VPN connection is required to access CU-Data remotely for security purposes.

CU-Data can be accessed via the Employee Portal tile or a direct link, with additional authentication provided through PingFederate.

Access

The access request form [2] is available on the UIS website and or through your employee portal [3] under Forms > Request System Access > CU-Data Access Request.

Once you complete and submit the access form, it will automatically be delivered to the Identity Access Management (IAM) team.

Maintenance

Weekly maintenance for the WRT (Report Development) and Production environments occurs every Thursday from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM MST.

Temporary files are cleared twice daily—at 12:00 PM (noon) and 11:00 PM.

During these times, please do not schedule or run any reports.

CU-DATA Environments

• Production (PRD): The live environment used for official reporting.
• Report Writing (WRT): The environment used by report developers to build and modify reports.
• Quality Assurance (QA): The environment used for testing and validating reports before deployment.
