Not getting the tax refund you expected? Use the IRS Withholding Calculator to check your tax withholdings [1]

February 11, 2019 by Employee Services [2]

Not getting the tax refund you expected? You may need to check your tax withholdings. This can help prevent too little tax from being withheld from your paychecks, which could lead to a tax bill or penalty during tax season.

Check your withholdings with the IRS tax calculator

To ensure the right amount of tax is being withheld, use the IRS Withholding Calculator [3].

This tool can help protect against having too little tax withheld and facing an unexpected tax bill or penalty at tax time next year.

Note: International Employees should not complete their W-4s without the assistance of a CU International Tax specialist.

What do I need before I get started?

Before using the calculator, the IRS recommends gathering your most recent pay stubs, income tax return and W-2s. Keep in mind that the calculator’s results will only be as accurate as the information you provide.

If your personal circumstances change during the year, be sure to revisit the calculator to confirm withholdings are still correct.
