Extreme Weather Advisory Affecting Travel January 24 – January 27, 2026 [1]
Multiple extreme weather advisories have already been issued across the nation for the weekend, impacting travelers from coast to coast. Christopherson Business Travel (CBT) [3] is prepared for the anticipated travel interruptions expected as a result. Here are a few tips for to consider should your business travel be impacted:
- Make sure to arrive early at the airport in anticipation of longer wait times for check-in or through security. Be sure to also allow ample time for your commute to the airport.
- Add your cell phone number to your Concur Traveler Profile [4] and in your airline frequent flyer account profile. This is the ONLY way the airlines and CBT Agents can get ahold of travelers regarding their flights.
- If traveling during potential storms, include your department in any travel decisions that could incur additional travel-related costs (such as delays resulting in extending the trip) to ensure approval for reimbursement.
- If your flight is cancelled or delayed, you can contact a CBT Agent [3] directly for immediate for assistance.
- When contacting CBT during a large weather event or other travel-impacting emergency, please be patient as you may experience longer than usual hold times due to increased call volume resulting from the event.
- If stranded at the airport, you can work directly with the airline to rebook. In most cases the airline will waive add/collect fees, put you on a different airline, or provide exceptions under weather-related waivers. If you find yourself in a situation where additional funds need to be collected for a resulting flight change, you can use your CU Travel Card [5] for these additional charges. Be sure to include comments in your report explaining the situation when reconciling.
