Support for Windows 7 is ending. Schedule an upgrade now [1]

July 11, 2019 by UIS Communications [2]

Don’t let your computer be a security risk: Users with Windows 7 need to upgrade now

Support for Windows 7 is ending. After Jan. 14, 2020, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support for PCs running Windows 7.

Starting in July, the UIS Service Desk will coordinate with all Windows 7 users at System Administration to ensure their systems are upgraded to Windows 10 before the January 2020 deadline. Allowing computers to run Windows 7 after its end of life date opens up network vulnerabilities, so the sooner we act, the better.

The time is now to request your Windows 10 upgrade. If there is a convenient time to have your computer or laptop upgraded – for example, during upcoming vacation or day off – email help@cu.edu [3] to schedule this service. The UIS Service Desk will make every effort to ensure updates do not affect your work.

If you have questions, please contact the UIS Service Desk at (303) 860-4357.
