The Committee shall have the following mission/charge:

  • Recommend these policies for further consideration to the System Administrative Support Steering Committee (SASSC);
  • Adopt policies, consistent with University and campus policies and generally accepted system practices, for the development, operation, maintenance, and enhancement of SIS;
  • Specify, in cooperation with University Management Systems (UMS), the services to be provided by UMS for SIS, and the performance standards to be met by UMS;
  • Specify, in cooperation with key users, the responsibilities of SIS users;
  • Specify data quality standards in consultation with Information Resource Management (IRM) staff;
  • Develop an annual maintenance programming plan for SIS, obtain estimates of the cost of implementing the plan, and report the plan and the funding recommendations to the SASSC;
  • Develop an annual enhancement programming plan for SIS, obtain estimates of the cost of implementing the plan, obtain commitments from the campuses for funding the plan, and report the plan and the funding commitments to the SASSC;
  • For SIS, monitor consumption of UMS services, UMS performance, and costs of the systems. If performance falls below standards, develop plans for improvement of performance in cooperation with UMS;
  • Monitor data quality. If data quality falls below standards, develop plans for improvement of data quality in cooperation with key users;
  • Conduct periodic assessments of the strengths and weaknesses of the applications, addressing controls, quality of data, effectiveness of management and governance, effectiveness of UMS in operating the application, adequacy of funding, and unmet needs. Report these assessments to the SASSC;
  • Direct the work of the SIS System Development Director, who is responsible for supporting the work of the SISGC, for working with users and UMS to implement the decisions of the Committee, and for managing the system on a daily basis.
