Combined, the Laws of the Regents and the Guiding Principles embody the Board of Regents’ belief that diversity is a crucial aspect of the educational experience. At its June 2013 meeting, the Board of Regents determined that it needed information to gauge how well the University of Colorado campuses are implementing the laws and principles related to diversity.
Statement from the CU Board of Regents
The University of Colorado Board of Regents endorses and supports President Benson's and Chancellor DiStefano's statements opposing the American Studies Association resolution calling for a boycott of Israeli academic institutions. One of the board's guiding principles is to promote diversity "... to ensure the rich interchange of ideas in the pursuit of truth and learning, including diversity of political, geographic, cultural, intellectual, and philosophical perspectives." The boycott runs counter to that ideal, and to the entire notion of why the university exists.
