Why did you apply to work at CU?

I’ve worked for CU since I started as a student on the Boulder campus fifteen years ago.  For the last 10 years, I’ve worked as a part of CU’s fundraising team.  I applied for my first position in fundraising because I wanted to do work that was mission-focused and served a greater good.

What makes CU a great place to work?

My position allows me to work closely with all of our campuses, so I am exposed to the broad range of research, programs and initiatives CU is leading across the state.  CU has a tremendous impact on the state of Colorado—it helps address social issues, provides healthcare, advances innovative medical research and educates people in all stages of life.

What is/are your favorite aspect(s) of working at CU?

Without a doubt, my favorite aspect is the team I work with.  I work with people I respect and genuinely like. That’s a hard thing to find in a job, and I’m lucky to spend every day with people I enjoy hanging out with.

What is the best part of your workday?

Lunchtime.  Just kidding!  The best part of my workday is the feeling that my work is accomplishing something meaningful.  Sometimes I’ll drive through one of our campuses and look up at a new building and think, “I had a small hand in making that happen.”

What do you enjoy most about living in Colorado?

The weather and the Mexican food – not in that order.

What is your favorite campus/neighborhood location?

The campuses are so different, and I really love all of them (and I’m not just saying that because I have to!).  But my favorite location in the Front Range is Longmont, a town northeast of Boulder.  It has a beautiful historic old town, a lot of great restaurants, and the best view of the mountains.

What is your favorite area restaurant?

Lately, I’ve been loving the empanadas at Rincon Argentino in Boulder.  When I’m in Denver, I go to The Cherry Tomato.  My all-time favorite is Comida in Longmont.

What do you enjoy doing on your spare time?

I love to go to flea markets.  The options for vintage and antique shopping in the Front Range are amazing!
