Tax Talk: New Municipal Affidavits Now Available [1]
August 6, 2026
Need to provide a vendor with proof of CU’s tax-exempt status? New resources are now available to help make the process easier.
In response to your requests, we’ve expanded our collection of tax exemption documents for Colorado home rule municipalities.
New Home Rule Affidavits Available
On our Tax-Exempt Information [2] website, we've previously posted Standard Municipal Home Rule Affidavits of Exempt Sale for Aurora, Boulder, Colorado Springs, and Denver.
Recently, we’ve added the municipal affidavits for:
- Breckenridge [3]
- Westminster [4]
If a vendor requests documentation of CU’s tax-exempt status in either of these cities, you may need to provide the appropriate home rule affidavit along with:
- DR5002 [5]– Declaration of Wholesale or Entity Sales Tax Exemption
- State of Colorado Sales Tax Exemption Certificate [6]
These documents help demonstrate CU’s tax-exempt status and support a smoother purchasing process when working with vendors.
We’ll continue adding home rule affidavits for additional municipalities to the Tax-Exempt Information website as they become available.
