Master Data Management updating next few months [1]

June 2, 2021 by Employee Services [2]

Keeping track of all the people who are tied to the university – as students, faculty, contractors, staff – is a demanding task. Our current suite of Master Data Management (MDM) applications, CU People, has been managing that task for the past 10 years. Now, it’s time to modernize the supporting technology.

Over the coming months, we’ll be updating our MDM technology into a microservices architecture. Segmenting this massive system into discrete microservices will bring many advantages to the university and empower growth in online education.

Users can look forward to these highlights with these updates:

  • Increased performance and reliability with newer generations of database and hosting technologies.
  • Reliable 24/7 uptime to facilitate the deployment of cloud-based tools that can meet the future demands of online education and other cloud-based services like Salesforce.
  • Greater adaptability for more bespoke technology solutions by breaking services out into microservices.
  • Lower cost of expanding MDM features by modernizing core technical infrastructure.

Stay tuned to learn more about details and timelines for these foundational changes.
