At CU, university staff members hold positions that are exempt from the state personnel system's rules and regulations (pursuant to state law). University staffers provide leadership, management, program development and implementation, and support services for the CU's administrators, faculty, staff, students and visitors.

University staff are responsible for the business operations for CU’s four campuses across the state. CU provides university staff in regular, 50 percent or greater benefits-eligible positions with a competitive, comprehensive benefits package.
