The University of Colorado has hired former White House adviser Phil Larson to be the assistant dean for communications, strategy and planning in the College of Engineering and Applied Science.

Larson, who served as senior adviser for space and innovation in the White House from 2009 to 2014, will start work on the Boulder campus in February.

Most recently, Larson managed corporate projects and supported communications efforts at SpaceX, the spacecraft design and manufacturing company run by Elon Musk.
