Denver Post - New formula to fund Colorado colleges on performance awaits approval

"We knew that if this was going to work it was going to have to work for everyone. CU made it a priority from the beginning — the new model couldn't leave anyone behind," said Todd Saliman, vice president for budget and finance at the University of Colorado. "From CU's perspective, we didn't have to be a big winner; we just didn't want to be a loser."

The Colorado Commission on Higher Education will vote on the formula Dec. 4. If approved, it would be presented to lawmakers. If the budget requests are not OK'd by the legislature, the formula may be revisited, according to Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia, who is also director of the state Department of Higher Education.
