Protect yourself against ransomware

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Department of Justice launched StopRansomware.gov, a new website to combat cyber threats. This website is an initiative designed to mitigate ransomware risks through education and verified resources.

Ransomware attacks are affecting businesses and universities around the world. This form of malware allows hackers to block the organization from accessing their own data and networks unless they pay the attackers a “ransom” to regain access.

Both individuals who have already been targeted and who are vulnerable to ransomware can visit StopRansomware.gov for further guidance and resources about this malware, how to avoid it and how to respond if you’ve already been targeted.
