FY18 Planned Maintenance Window Schedule Announced

Each year, UIS partners with business and campus leaders to determine dates throughout the fiscal year where enterprise and business systems can be brought down for maintenance with minimal impact to campus operations. Because CU is such a busy university, it’s not always possible to avoid all business cycles. This partnership helps ensure that the fewest important dates experience outages.

Here are the guiding principles that go into determining maintenance windows, followed by the FY18 (July 2017 through June 2018) dates as added to the Business Calendar. The Business Calendar is used by UIS to plan other types of maintenance events throughout the year, including those that are tied to projects. It is also helpful to students, faculty and staff to proactively identify enterprise system outages and plan projects accordingly. Access the calendar from the UIS home page.

Important! The Business Calendar also includes important campus and other critical dates beyond planned maintenance windows.

Guiding Principles for Maintenance Windows

  • Non-production maintenance typically occurs on a Friday and production maintenance generally occurs on a Sunday. There are exceptions throughout the year, dependent on the level and type of work included (such as fiscal year end or windows that include both regular maintenance and CS bundles). Extended windows and those occurring on a non-standard day are requested ahead of time for confirmation with campuses and business offices.
  • The standard timeframe for maintenance windows is 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. If changes are requested, UIS will reach out to the campuses and business offices ahead of time for approval.
  • Assume full production and development outages during windows unless otherwise noted in maintenance window communications. Production maintenance window tasks are listed in the Service Alerts tab on the UIS home page and on my.cu.edu.
  • Non-production maintenance windows generally occur at least two weeks prior to production maintenance windows.

Maintenance Window Calendar

The following are the maintenance windows for FY18. Semester start moratorium dates are also included, as are Electronic Research and Administration (eRA) maintenance dates. Please remember that we may reach out to campuses and business offices to extend, add or change dates and times based on maintenance needs. The Business Calendar is updated as changes are made and it is important to check prior to scheduling projects that may be affected by these changes.
