Social Security deductions resume and contribution limit increases

On Monday, Jan. 1, Social Security withholding will resume for employees who made more than $127,200 in 2017. Please remind your department employees who fall into this category, as January 2018 paychecks will reflect resumed contributions.

In 2018, the maximum taxable earnings for Social Security are $128,400, at which point the withholdings will cease. Medicare will be withheld at all income levels.
