Get guidance on paying international visitors with CU's accounts payable matrix
Summer is the prime season for university conferences and lecture series that attract international speakers and guests. Use our updated International Accounts Payable (A/P) Payment Matrix to ensure you properly reimburse these and other CU visitors.
If your department makes payments (any time of year) to international visitors, we encourage you to review this matrix. It’s intended to break down the complexities of international tax and payment laws into a format that helps you identify requirements and restrictions for various types of international affiliates to CU. To use the matrix, find the visitor’s immigration status within the first column and the payment type from the top row to determine what’s permissible.
Whether the international visitor is a scholar, student or temporary worker, you can use this matrix to understand what documentation and forms must be provided for disbursing honoraria, prizes, travel reimbursements and more.
Note: This matrix is not exhaustive; if you would like to provide payment to a visitor whose immigration status is not identified here, please contact the International Tax Office in advance of the visit to discuss what’s allowed.
