Celebrate National Payroll Week, Sept. 5-9
Sept. 5-9 marks the 20th National Payroll Week! All this week, you can celebrate America’s 150 million wage learners and payroll professionals, along with all they do to make sure we receive our paychecks on time and correctly.
Since 1996, National Payroll Week recognizes payroll professionals who deal with nearly $2.2 trillion, or 68 percent of the annual revenue of the U.S. Treasury.
How can you celebrate National Payroll Week, you ask?
If you are a payroll employee, you can spread the word about all the awesome work you do. You work hard; let others know about it. You could even host a NPW-themed party in the office.
On Money Matters National Education Day, Sept. 8, volunteer at a local high school to teach students about what makes up a paycheck, electronic payment methods such as direct deposit and paycards, and the payroll withholding system.
You can promote National Payroll Week in your local community through volunteering efforts. Gather up a few colleagues and share your payroll pride. Volunteer opportunities include donating to a local food bank, running a toy drive or serving food at the local homeless shelter.
Even if you do not work in payroll, throughout the week, the American Payroll Association will be running the “Getting Paid in America” survey. By completing the survey, you are eligible for a free paycheck and a trip for two to Las Vegas.
No matter how you choose to celebrate, remember to thank your payroll colleagues for all the work they do.
