Charge

The new SIS will be used by academic schools, colleges, and departments to manage academic resources and track students in a variety of ways. To help assure that the project will meet the needs of academic administrators, a special interest group is being formed to provide the project expertise and perspective for this area. The group will have members that include associate deans, representatives from the central academic affairs offices, and others with significant responsibility for academic administration in areas that require SIS support.

Responsibilities

1. Help define the requirements for a new SIS to support academic administration.
2. Provide additional expertise and perspective to the project team (including the work teams), the Advisory Committee, and the Executive Committee.
3. Help formulate strategies for implementation and support from the perspective of academic administration.
4. Other, as defined as the project progresses.

Membership

The Student Information System is a complex system that touches many parts of the University with a significant number and diversity of stakeholders. The new SIS is intended to provide better support for the academic units of the University. Participants in the SIGAA should have significant responsibility for academic administration, and should be willing to devote some time outside of meetings documenting needs, reviewing and contributing to the requirements we define, and (over the course of the project), helping to design and document new reporting processes and deliverables. The special interest group will have membership from these areas:
• Associate Deans
• Academic Affairs
• Core student service offices
• UMS
• Others with an interest in this area

Relationships

This special interest group will report its recommendations to the SIS Advisory Committee and Executive Committee. It will provide additional perspective to both groups related to academic administration.

Meeting Pattern

Monthly meetings will be scheduled. Additional meetings will be required on an as needed basis. This is a multi-campus group, with meetings in Denver or by phone. Time commitments will vary but might take 4 to 10 hours per month through mid 2006 and more during the RFP evaluation.
