How do I know if my computer is configured correctly or compatible with SkillSoft?

How do I turn off my pop-up blocker?

  • For Internet Explorer:
    • Go to "Tools."
    • Highlight "Pop-up blocker."
    • select "Turn off pop-up blocker."
  • For Firefox:
    • Go to "Tools."
    • click "Options."
    • Select "Content."
    • Uncheck the box "Block pop-up windows." Also, go to "Privacy," and check the box, "Accept cookies from sites."

Why is the course I completed not showing up on the myCU Portal, My Training Summary?

There is a 3-to-4-business-day delay from the time you successfully complete a course and quiz in SkillSoft to when if appears in your training summary. If more than four business days have passed and you do not see the course, email Employee Learning and Development at system.training@cu.edu.

When does SkillSoft maintenance occur?

  1. Weekly maintenance:
    • 11 p.m. Tuesday - 1 a.m. Wednesday (Mountain Standard Time)
    • 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Sunday (Mountain Standard Time)
  2. Unscheduled maintenance:
    • You will see a message posted on the myCU Portal reading, "SkillSoft is temporarily unavailable. The site is currently down for maintenance. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try to access the system again later today."

Taking CU Courses in SkillSoft

How do I take required training on SkillSoft?

  • Log on to your campus portal.
  • Click on the "CU Resources tab." (Skip this step if you are using the system portal.)
  • Select "TRAINING."
  • Select "Start SkillSoft." (SkillSoft will open in a separate window.)
  • Select "Catalog."
  • Click "University of Colorado - Courses."
  • Select the specific folder you need, organized by topic.
  • Select the title of the course and click "[Launch]."

Is there a training catalog outside SkillSoft?

Yes. It is on the Employee Learning and Development website. View the catalog.

Where can I find my record of training completions?

There are two ways to view your training record:

  1. SkillSoft keeps a real-time record. View your record in SkillSoft:
    • Go to "My Progress," at the left of the page. There are two tabbed pages—"In Progress" and "Completed."
    • Choose a date range for a list of courses to be displayed.
  2. Access your training record through the myCU Portal in your My Training Summary.
    • NOTE: It takes 3 - 4 business days for a course completion to report here.

Why is the course I completed not showing up on the myCU Portal, My Training Summary?

Can I view or print a certificate of completion for a course I complete in SkillSoft?

Yes. To access a certificate:

  • Log in to SkillSoft.
  • Click "My Progress" on the left side of the page.
  • Click the completed tab.
  • Click the certificate icon in the actions column at the right of the chart.

What is Books24x7®?

Books24x7® provides access to thousands of digitized books, summaries, research reports and best practices. View an overview of Books24x7 (PDF).

How do I search for information on a certain topic in SkillSoft?

  • Use the SkillSoft text box at the top of the page.
  • Select a category from the drop-down list, if desired.
  • Click "Search."

What are the SkillSoft KnowledgeCenters?

The SkillSoft KnowledgeCenters offer a broad range of complementary resources and featured topic spotlights that are refreshed regularly. These include:

  • Business Exploration Series
  • Java KnowledgeCenter
  • Management KnowledgeCenter
  • Oracle KnowledgeCenter

What are SkillSoft Job Aids?

Job Aids are performance-support tools designed to be used on an ongoing basis, or around a specific work-focused event such as a performance review, interviewing or strategic planning. Job Aids are not dependent on course content.

What are SkillSoft Skill Briefs?

Skill Briefs are single-paged, condensed summaries of the instructional content of a course. Use Skill Briefs as an instant reference after you have completed a course. Skill Briefs are launched from the course summary page.

Who do I contact if I have a problem with SkillSoft?

  1. Contact your campus IT Help Desk.
  2. Contact SkillSoft Customer Support.
  3. Email Employee Learning and Development.

Instructor Led Training in SkillSoft

Where can I find instructor-led training (ILT) courses?

  • Log on to SkillSoft.
  • Click "Catalog" on the left.
  • Select "Instructor Led Training."
  • Select the appropriate sub-folder to view a list of classes.

How do I enroll in a class session?

After finding the class you want to enroll in:

  • Highlight the title and select "[Sessions]."
  • A list of available sessions for this course will appear on a new screen.
  • Click the underlined session number.
  • Click "Enroll me."

Can I withdraw from an instructor-led training session in which I already enrolled?

Yes:

  • Log in to SkillSoft.
  • Click "Instructor Led Training" on the left of the page.
  • Click "My ILT."
  • Click the underlined session number from which you wish to withdraw.
  • Click "Withdraw me."
