Welcome UIS New Hires - May 2017 Edition

Please welcome the new and transferring UIS staff members joining April 1 - June 1, 2017 to support universitywide services!

Document Management Services (ECS)

Phillip Jones Document Management Business Systems Analyst Transfer 6/1/17 As the Document Management Business System Analyst, Phillip supports the OnBase and Singularity systems for the University. He provides subject matter expertise, delivers training and support and assists the more than 120 clients with determining the best solutions for their needs. Phillip gathers and translates functional business requirements into design criteria for system configuration, business processes, workflow design, as well as develops functional design specifications and documentation. He also analyzes and troubleshoots problems with the systems to minimize delays in the university’s critical document management process flows
Enterprise Cloud Services (ECS)
Name Position New or Transfer Effective Duties
Desmond Grant Assistant Director, Infrastructure New 5/15/17 Desmond is responsible for providing stable and secure systems that are the foundation for UIS’s services. His areas of responsibility include Storage Area Networks (SAN), our data networks, servers, data backup, managing Microsoft Exchange, Voice over IP management (VoIP), data center management and automation. Desmond’s expertise in these areas will help ECS continue to provide a high-level of service and improve on UIS’s ability to deliver services more effectively and efficiently. He strategically prepares UIS’s infrastructure systems and team to move into the next phase of a hybrid Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) model.

Integrations

Name Position New or Transfer Effective Duties
Aaron Phillips Integrations Data Analyst New 5/22/17 Aaron joined UIS on the Integrations team to assist customers, developers and managers primarily on the CU Boulder campus. He will help determine their data needs to create system integrations. Aaron will work closely with UIS Integrations and Data Warehouse developers to design and implement integrations that leverage existing integration infrastructure to support new functional requests. He will also be responsible for enacting and enforcing integration strategy as defined by the UIS Integrations and Data Warehouse teams.

 

IT Service Management (ITSM)

Lara Ackerman Sr. IT Change Manager New 4/17/17 Lara joined UIS, supporting the organizational change management (OCM) process – the non-technical, people side of change. Lara will ensure that UIS’s customer’s needs are understood and addressed during times of change. She will also ensure that customers have the ability and knowledge to embrace the changes new and updated services invariably bring. Lara’s current focus is on relationship-building and ensuring that key stakeholders have a voice in change-related activities.

 

Middleware

Name Position New or Transfer Effective Duties
Joel Shure Junior Middleware Administrator New 5/1/17 Joel supports the Middleware team, which provides stable and safe platforms for non-PeopleSoft UIS service owners through monitoring, security and governance of applications to identify issues and ensure that these critical services run efficiently. Joel is focused on finding ways to automate application deployment and patching. He is also a consultative partner to UIS teams, providing input and guidance for system architecture and standards.
Pat Whetsel Junior Middleware Administrator Transfer 4/17/17 Pat joined UIS as a student on the Service Desk and became a permanent employee as part of the Document Management Team. He now supports the Middleware team, which provides stable and safe platforms for non-PeopleSoft UIS service owners through monitoring, security and governance of applications to identify issues and ensure that these critical services run efficiently. Pat is focused on finding ways to automate application deployment and patching. He is also a consultative partner to UIS teams, providing input and guidance for system architecture and standards.

 

PeopleSoft Finance

Albert Ugarte PeopleSoft Developer New 5/22/17 Albert joins UIS as a PeopleSoft Financials Developer. He will be providing ongoing support for Office of University Controller (OUC) and Campus financial system users for continued stabilization and improvements to the PeopleSoft Financials System.

 

Student Systems

Name Position New or Transfer Effective Duties
Christie Ruemenapp CU-SIS Business Systems Analyst Transfer 4/10/17 Christie Ruemenapp joined UIS on the Student Systems team supporting Campus Solutions (CS) Financial Aid and Student Financials. She acts as liaison between UIS teams and campus student systems partners to gather business requirements, create functional design specifications and test plans, and facilitate requests. Christie also supports campuses through partnering with UIS application managers and developers to work support tickets, develop system test plans, perform regressionRegression Test"Regression testing is a type of software testing that intends to ensure that changes (enhancements or defect fixes) to the software have not adversely affected it."
